"LIVING" ALEXANDER ANATOMY

THE ANATOMY OF THE DART PROCEDURES

A S.T.A.T professional development course for
teachers and students by Michael Hardwicke.
At FELLSIDE, Kendal, Cumbria.

The weekend includes-

  • How the Dart procedures expand our A.T practice
  • How the Dart procedures arise from Darts extensive knowledge of anatomy, embryology, evolution etc
  • How the Dart procedures take us through both our evolutionary and embryological development
  • Using Anatomical insights to practice the Dart procedures
  • How Dart’s first procedures take us deeper into understanding “freeing the neck” and give an appreciation of the crucial first neck segment and how this leads to a dynamic view of primary control.
  • How Dart’s Lower Limb procedure enhances and expands what “knees forward and away” implies.
  • Why Dart’s Upper Limb procedures bring a good connection of arm into back and how to apply this to hands-on
  • Using the clarity of Darts embryological model to inform our hands-on.
  • How Dart’s segmental view of our structure relates to A.T
  • How we take our head leading structure up from the ground and get fully upright on our two legs

The course aims to provide an antomical understanding that will:--

  • improve body and mind connection
  • assist in the inner work of releasing
  • informs our hands –on
  • assist visual and tactile observation
  • give clear explanations of the Alexander Technique to use with groups and individuals
  • add to our professional credibility and authority

Michael’s work provides an opportunity to understand in a "living" way some of the basic anatomy that informs and clarifies our Alexander work .
His teaching has always included a good understanding of how skeletal anatomy reveals what the Alexander directions are and forms a grounding in connecting mind and body. Michael’s teaching includes "living" anatomy i.e. the intention is not head knowledge but real hands-on, find-and-feel anatomy using visualisation, model making and other tools that give us an accurate sense of what we really are.

Emphasis will be on how we can use this understanding in teaching.

COST- £60.00
